Golden Age

A mobile serious game meant for the elderly to play as a group — In order to incentivize social behaviour.

Golden age was made in direct collaboration with a class of elderly women as playtesters. We use imagery and concepts familiar to the audience so as to lower the learning curve, and have researched and playtested over 70 different minigames and mechanics until we settled for quiz-like and word games.

We rated the possible games based on: familiarity to core audience, short-term memory issues, motor coordination complexity, learning curve, writing necessity, and multiplayer value. Even though there were a lot of seemingly easy-to-grasp games, since we didn't want the game to require a third-party assisting them, very few games met the quota.

Made by a group of game design students as a 4th semester project. Meant to be more of a prototype than a full-fledged experience.

Unfortunately most of the assets have been lost to time, hence the lack of screenshots and such.
